This post was originally an announcement on fodengrealy.com - Changes in Foden Grealy explains why it is here. ---

I will be speaking at the Shrivenham Defence Academy symposium - Culture Management: The Key to Effective Organisations? - on 14 September 2011. It's great that an organisation like the Defence Academy has chosen to hold an event on such a crucial topic. Details of my session...

"Creating cultures that cope with complexity" This talk will look, from a cultural change perspective, at the challenges faced by one IT-dependent Government department in responding to its changing operating environment. It will explain: how increases in complexity have brought about the need for fundamentally different ways of working; how collaborative communities have been used to counter the acute problems that hierarchical and silo-ed organisational structures present to agile working; how changes to ingrained cultures restricting the delivery and management of IT-based capability are being tackled; and how open behaviours are crucially important to the success of open technology platforms and services.

I believe there are some places still available. Come along.
